A Dutch writer, born in 1991, she is the first Dutch writer to win the World Poker Prize and the youngest to win it.
“Evening Anxiety” is her novel, and her language is experimental, poetic. The novel also won the Dutch Literary Libres Award in 2019, a high-profile literary award in the Netherlands.
Marika Lucas Reinfield also won the Dutch Manblad Promotion Award in 2015. In 2016, she was awarded the “Sea Budding” Award for Best Poetry Book.
Reynfeld grew up with her family on a farm in rural Holland, and she explained that her novel – “Evening Anxiety” – is an adaptation of a real part of her life that is the death of her big brother when she was three. It took six years to write this novel. She had a love of writing when she read “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” by JK Rowling, which she borrowed from the local library, because her reserved and religious family would not have allowed her to buy books about magic, and then moved it all on her computer to be read again and again later.
In addition to writing, Renfield works on a dairy farm.
